Fiber break locator Cercis' Model 52 Visible Fault Finder lets you locate fiber breaks, faulty splices, or defective connectors within splice trays and patch panels from up to 5 km away, according to company claims. All units are fiber-coupled to yield 10-dBm optical power into any fiber with which it is connected. In bright light situations, there are three modulations speeds-slow, medium, and fast blink-for improved fault detection. Light sources are offered with a choice for the optical port of fixed FC or interchangeable FC, ST, or SC adaptors. Interchangeable adaptors use a split sleeve to connect a connector-to-connector adaptor and let you access the internal connector for cleaning.
