Tool-less shielded Category 6 and Category 6A jacks

Hubbell Premise Wiring’s NextSpeed shielded jacks maintain twist integrity and ensure consistent performance, the company says.

Hubbell Premise Wiring recently introduced shielded Category 6 and Category 6A jacks. “To maintain twist integrity of structured cabling and ensure consistent electrical performance, the NextSpeed Shielded Category 6 Jack and NextSpeed Ascient Shielded Category 6A Jack feature a unique, tool-less termination body,” the company explained. “This allows cable to be laced in without disrupting the pairs. The jack’s locking cap ensures termination retention during installation, and helps the cable maintain performance.”

The Category 6 jacks offer the following characteristics, Hubbell Premise Wiring said.

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) and alien near-end crosstalk (ANEXT) protection for reduced interference
  • Quick and easy grounding
  • Backward compatibility with Category 5e hardware and applications
  • High-density form factor
  • Use in IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE 802.3bt four-pair Power over Ethernet applications, as well as TIA TSB-155 10-Gbit Ethernet over 55 meters

The company adds that the Category 6A jacks offer the following.

  • Added protection against ANEXT, external noise, and EMI interference
  • Headroom over TIA and ISO requirements, eliminating the need for alien-crosstalk testing
  • Backward compatibility with Category 5e and Category 6 hardware and applications
  • Transparent 10-Gbit/sec signal path
  • Use in IEEE 802.3an 10GBase-T and IEEE 802.3bt 4-pair PoE applications as well as IEEE 802.11ac and 802.11ax wireless access point deployments
  • Suitability for links between 2 and 90 meters

“NextSpeed shielded Category 6 and Category 6A jacks are 100-percent factory tested for quality performance,” said Nate Herring, senior product manager for Hubbell Premise Wiring. “The jacks help support current and future technology applications while decreasing cable installation costs.”
