March 30, 2009 -- Belkin has introduced its OmniViewIP 5200K series KVM Switches, enabling two remote IT administrators to simultaneously monitor and control up to 32 servers. As an expansion to the company's current KVM-over-IP line, the dual-user switches offer improved features such as rapid video synchronization and support for both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox web browsers.
Designed to provide more flexibility for SMBs with remote offices or remote users, the company says the OmniViewIP KVM solutions are designed to provide IT professionals with real-time, BIOS-level access to local and remote IT assets. The devices further enable remote management by offering virtual media support, so that users can mount a local USB or CD-ROM resource to the remote server.
Key features of the OmniViewIP 5200K series, according to the company, include:
-- Seamless Control: The OmniViewIP viewer technology provides instantaneous switching between attached servers; eliminates delays when troubleshooting multiple systems at once.
-- Rapid Synchronization: Provides instantaneous video synchronization through all resolution/refresh-rate changes; provides always-on video capabilities during boot-up process.
-- BIOS-Level Access: Allows connectivity and access throughout the entire operating-system boot-up cycle; enables remote troubleshooting during critical BIOS process.
-- Virtual Media Technology: Provides the ability to map USB or CD-ROM resources to the remotely managed server. Allows for file transfer, application and OS patches, and remote boot capabilities (virtual-media support for two attached servers on each appliance).
-- Remote Serial Access: Provides integrated support for up to two external serial devices, such as PDUs, UPSes, etc.; can be used to tunnel access for Command Line Interface (CLI) devices.
Centralized Management: Integrates seamlessly with OmniViewIP HQ Centralized Access Appliance; manages multiple KVM-over-IP switches, serial console servers, IP-based power, and other assets through a single access portal.
The OmniViewIP 5216K KVM Switch (F1DP216G - $2099.00 MSRP) and OmniViewIP 5232K KVM Switch (F1DP232G - $3199.00 MSRP) will be available in early April 2009.
