April 9, 2009 -- Comtrol Corp. has introduced its RocketLinx MC family of industrial grade serial and Ethernet fiber media converters. The RocketLinx MC5001 and MC7001 products are designed for harsh environments, and are well-matched for both EMI immunity and extended fiber transmission requirements.

The company says the RocketLinx MC product family is ideal for any application requiring robust, reliable serial and Ethernet communication across environments that are susceptible to surges or electrical noise, such as traffic, power, rail and industrial applications.

The RocketLinx MC5001 and MC7001 products offer a distinctive mix of features, including:

* Support of singlemode and multimode ports for long distance transmission;
* Extended operating temperature ranges of -20 deg to 70 deg C (MC5001) and -10 deg to 70 deg C (MC7001);
* Wide range of DC input voltages;
* Rigid aluminum housings that are IP30 (MC5001) and IP31 (MC7001) rated for installation in hazardous applications;
* Support of RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 serial communication for all models;
* Use of terminal block wiring connectors; and
* Use of DIP switch configuration of serial port and communication modes.

"Meeting the expanding needs of our customer base is important to Comtrol," says Ehssan Taghizadeh, president and COO of Comtrol. "The release of the RocketLinx MC products represents the first of many products in this family that will allow Comtrol to offer a complete line of industrial fiber and Ethernet solutions."
