May 15, 2009 -- Meritec announced the release of its new Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cable for use in its Mini-SAS / SAS / SATA / InfiniBand / and Ethernet CX4 external cable assembly product families.

The LSZH cable is available immediately in all relevant industry standard configurations in 30 AWG through 24 AWG. The company maintains that Low Smoke Zero Halogen cable jacket is preferred in many green data center and military applications. (While Meritec's standard products are halogen free, PVC jacketed cable is also available as an option.)

A future external cable assembly offering will include QSFP (Quad Small Form Factor) with LSZH cable to all of the following: QSFP / Mini-SAS / SAS / SATA / InfiniBand / and Ethernet CX4. Meritec also offers a variety of angled backshells to provide for an angled cable egress giving the engineer packaging options with increased density to better fit between the cabinet door and the box rear panel. Meritec is a specialist in 10+ gigabit performance and termination configurations.

The new product family based on LSZH cable meets or exceeds the electrical performance requirements of the SAS 2.0 specification that can be found at www.t10.org. The Mini-SAS connector specification is SFF-8088 and can be found at www.sffcommittee.org along with the SFF-8470/8473 specifications.
