The LSZH cables are designed to minimize emission of smoke and toxic gases in the event of a fire, and are PVC-free to answer growing concerns about the potential health and environmental effects of PVC.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Meeting UL CL2 and CSA CMG FT4 requirements, the new Madison Cable brand TurboTwin Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen (LSZH) cables from Tyco Electronics support speeds up to 16 Gb/s for high-speed connectivity in the computer, networking and telecommunication markets.

The LSZH cables are designed to minimize emission of smoke and toxic gases in the event of a fire, and are PVC-free to answer growing concerns about the potential health and environmental effects of PVC. The parallel-pair cable design achieves exceptional performance, consistency between pairs and consistency between manufacturing runs of cables, according to the company.

“Our new cables combine the safety of a Low-Smoke Zero-Halogen design with our technically advanced cable designs,” says Brian Morissette, Tyco Electronics’ product manager. “The cables offer low skew, a tightly controlled impedance and uniform characteristics to achieve excellent signal integrity. They are among the first to meet the rigorous CSA FT4 flammability and physical testing requirements for this type of cable.”

The two to eight pair cables are available in wire sizes ranging from 30 AWG to 24 AWG. Individual pairs are foil shielded, with an overall cable shield of foil/braid. The cables suit high-speed applications such as Gigabit/10G Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, SFP, SFP+, XFP, QSFP+, CXP, CR4 and CR10 standards.
