Fiber termination tools, methods explained

Web seminar covers factory vs. field connectivity, tools and techniques, and cleaning best practices.

The tools and best practices needed for proper fiber termination will be discussed in detail during a web-delivered seminar that will broadcast live on Wednesday, October 27. Once the seminar takes place, it will be available for viewing on-demand for one year.

The seminar, which is scheduled to be approximately 60 minutes in duration, will include three presentations.

  1. First, Matthew Johnston, an applications engineer with AFL, will provide information to help users make an informed decision when choosing between preterminated and field-terminated connector systems.
  2. Then Robert Carlson, vice president of global marketing with Siemon, dives deep into field termination with a discussion of the connector styles available and the means by which they can be terminated.
  3. USConec's product manager Brian Teague concludes with a presentation on fiber-connector cleaning and inspection, weighing the pros and cons of different cleaning methods.

Attendees of the web seminar who hold certain professional credentials from BICSI can earn 1 continuing education credit toward the renewal of those credentials for attending the seminar in its entirety. Specifically, holders of the RCDD, Installer 2, Technician and Certified Trainer designations can earn a CEC for their attendance.
