Fiber Broadband Association Reports 11.8 Million FTTH Deployments, Expands 2025 Research Output
A recent Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) press release announced the publication of 24 research papers, studies, and industry guides in 2025, alongside new data highlighting continued growth in fiber broadband deployment across North America.
According to the association, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment surpassed 11.8 million homes in 2025. Fiber networks now pass 98.4 million U.S. homes—over 60% of the nation—and more than 70% of homes and businesses in Canada. Non-Tier 1 providers accounted for 40% of total fiber deployments, showing expanded industry participation.
Fiber take-rates also increased, reaching 46.5%. In regions with a second fiber provider, cumulative take rates rose to 61%, which the FBA notes shows the “positive impact of competition”.
“Our research momentum reflects the momentum of fiber itself,” said Deborah Kish, Vice President of Research and Workforce Development at the Fiber Broadband Association. “Fiber had record growth in 2025, reinforcing fiber’s role as the essential infrastructure to connect all communities.”
The association’s research spans various topics, from market analysis and policy updates to rural broadband strategies and emerging technology contributing to broadband network expansion.
Research also examined AI-driven applications, edge computing growth, LEO satellite capacity, and data center connectivity requirements—factors that continue to influence fiber network design and capacity planning.
