Under the terms of a second-source agreement, Bel Stewart Connector has obtained the rights to manufacture, market and sell Tyco Electronics' RJ-Point-Five connector. The connector is used to achieve higher I/O port density in integrated and non-integrated magnetic systems.

Tyco says the connector doubles the port density of the traditional RJ45 Ethernet link while maintaining field-termination capability. Its module design provides flexibility to accommodate specific application requirements. The product supports gigabit speeds of Cat 5e UTP cable, in integrated and non-integrated magnetic solutions, with a roadmap to support PoE Plus and 10GBase-T over Cat 6a cable.

Dennis Renaud, Tyco's vice president of product management, said, "We previously worked with Bel Stewart Connector on second-source agreements and are pleased they will be a suppler of the RJ-Point-Five connector. Our primary focus is to provide customers with a dependable second source for this new interface, adn we strongly believe that Bel Stewart has the full capacity to fill this role."
