DE-CIX, operators of internet exchanges (IXs) internationally and a carrier and data center neutral interconnection ecosystem, has added an IX in Phoenix, Arizona.
The site, the company’s fifth and most western IX in the U.S., will strengthen DE-CIX’s connectivity platform across the United States and improves gateway access among North America, South America, and Europe.
“Phoenix is the new urban technology center of the western U.S. As a core hub for data centers, connectivity is robust, with over 60 long-haul, metro fiber telecom, broadband, and wireless networks traversing the market,” commented Ivo A. Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX International.
Ivanov added, “DE-CIX’s expansion to Phoenix increases our relevance in the North American market, bringing data and interconnection services closer to the users as our locations are now spanning from East to West. We continue to cement our position as the largest carrier and data center neutral interconnection ecosystem in North America and the world.”
The provider's other U.S. IX sites are DE-CIX New York (2014), which serves more than 260 networks; DE-CIX Dallas (2016), which serves more than 100 networks; DE-CIX Chicago (2020), accessible from more than 13 data center locations; and DE-CIX Richmond (announced in 2020 and still under development) with support from the RVA-IX.
In total, DE-CIX operates in 28 locations in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia, with its home market in Germany.
