The 1998 Atlantic hurricane season was an active season that produced 14 tropical cyclones and tropical storms and 10 hurricanes, three of them major. The most intense hurricane, Mitch, tied with Hurricane Dean for the seventh most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded at the time, as well as the second deadliest Atlantic hurricane yet in recorded history.
