Draka Communications has announced a new range of pre-terminated cabling products for LAN and data center network applications.

Draka Communications has announced a new range of pre-terminated cabling products for LAN and data center network applications. Marketed as UC Precon, Draka’s data center offerings are intended to meet the needs of LAN and data center designers who want to plan a coherent migration path to 10-Gigabit Ethernet/8-Gigabit Fibre Channel and higher datacom infrastructures.

The Draka UC Precon program features the recently introduced bend-insensitive MaxCap-BB-OM3/4 multimode fiber, designed for demanding configurations such as challenging cabling routes with tight corners, small-footprint data centers and when more connectors are needed in data center backbones. The new range also combines for the first time Draka-patented twisted-pair cables with Class EA performing connectivity.

Draka says its pre-connected cables bring to the market end-to-end factory tested and guaranteed cabling products that meet the latest IEEE 802.3 channel specifications facilitating the deployment and maintenance of 10-Gigabit Ethernet capable networks. Pre-connection reduces the costs of installation and downtime by as much as 50%, says the company. Also, as high-performance cabling needs protection against environmental stress due to regular moves, additions, and changes, Draka says its designs have been optimized for robustness and durability over the entire investment life cycle.

Robustness is achieved by shielding technology that meets today’s need for slim cables. This includes Draka patented ZEBRA cable that is engineered to protect electronic systems from the negative effects of earth loop currents.
