Net Optics develops 40G monitoring access platform for carrier and data center networks

The company's 40G Fiber Taps are designed to enable seamless migration from 10G to 40G networks.

Net Optics has introduced its 40G Fiber Tap, billed as a flexible 40G monitoring access platform designed to ensure smooth transitions from 10G to 40G networks. The platform can be deployed across an entire network infrastructure to improve network and application performance during 10G to 40G migrations.

The all-optical design of the 40G Fiber Tap is optimized and tested for high-performance fiber networks. Requiring no power, the fiber taps maintain permanent passive access ports without introducing a point of failure or disturbing other network connections. The passive taps deliver full-duplex monitoring with zero impact on network traffic around the clock, says the company.

Full-duplex monitoring is a simplified with a custom monitoring cable that sends each side of the signal to a separate NIC on the monitoring device. Without an IP address, monitoring devices are isolated from the network, reducing their exposure to attacks. However, the monitoring device connected to the Tap still sees all full-duplex traffic as if it were in-line, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors.

“Our customers rely on Net Optics monitoring access solutions to ensure the long term health and performance of their business-critical networks,” says Bob Shaw, president and CEO of Net Optics. “Many of our largest customers are already looking ahead to 40 Gigabit network deployments, and Net Optics is providing long-term investment protection in our current line of products.”

Net Optics Offers High-Performance 40G Monitoring Access Solution for Carrier and Data Center Networks

Net Optics Fiber Taps Provide Customers with Seamless Migration from 10G to 40G Networks

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Net Optics, Inc., the global leader in intelligent network access solutions, today announced a new 40G fiber Tap for high-performance networks. Net Optics now provides organizations with a flexible 40G monitoring access solution that can be deployed across the entire network infrastructure to improve network and application performance, increase IT staff efficiency and reduce business risk. The new 40G Tap provides customers with investment protection and ensures a smooth transition from 10G to 40G networks.

The all-optical design of the 40G Fiber Tap is optimized and tested for high-performance fiber networks. Requiring no power, the fiber Taps maintain permanent passive access ports without introducing a point of failure or disturbing other network connections. These passive Taps deliver full-duplex monitoring with zero impact on network traffic around the clock. Full-duplex monitoring is a simplified with a custom monitoring cable that sends each side of the signal to a separate NIC on the monitoring device. Without an IP address, monitoring devices are isolated from the network, dramatically reducing their exposure to attacks. However, the monitoring device connected to the Tap still sees all full-duplex traffic as if it were in-line, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 errors.

“Our customers rely on Net Optics monitoring access solutions to ensure the long term health and performance of their business-critical networks,” said Bob Shaw, president and CEO of Net Optics. “Many of our largest customers are already looking ahead to 40 Gigabit network deployments, and Net Optics is providing long-term investment protection in our current line of products.”
