Insights on virtualization, consolidation from a medical-center data-center director
On Thursday, February 23 AFCOM will host a free, live sneak preview of one of the presentations that will be delivered at its upcoming Data Center World Conference. The 30-minute web-based discussion will be delivered by Joseph Furmanski, a projector director of data center facilities and technologies for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Furmanski will provide the presentation via GoToMeeting, from 1:00 to 1:30pm EST (10:00 to 10:30am PST) on February 23.
In an invitation to join the discussion, AFCOM described the event as a "candid conversation" with Furmanski that will include discussion of "managing older data centers through consolidation in a dynamically growing healthcare organization." AFCOM says the session will also cover virtualization and energy-saving projects.
The event is being offered as part of AFCOM's Meet-A-Speaker program. Furmanski will deliver a full-hour version of the presentation on Thursday, March 22 as part of AFCOM's Data Center World conference.
