Report Looks at the Impact of AI on Data Center Power
ZincFive and Data Center Frontier recently collaborated on the 2025 Data Center Energy Storage Industry Insights Report. The report looks at major trends molding the future of data center power, including the growing impact of AI on energy storage.
“When asked about AI’s effect on power and energy storage, 55% of respondents cited increased energy efficiency requirements, while 54% emphasized the growing need for higher power density and smaller footprints.”
Regarding changes in energy storage technology, 58% of respondents said that cost was the main driver, 46% said safety concerns, and 42% responded cooling requirements. Concerns on sustainability grew from 81%, in a 2024 version of the report, to 87% of respondents saying it is a priority. 72% of respondents stated that there were “significant or moderate cost reductions from their organization’s sustainability efforts”, which has gone up from 2024’s 63%. The report includes many more statistics on other topics including backup runtimes and modular power solutions.
