Open Optical Line System to Meet AI Demand

1Finity, a Fujitsu company, has introduced the Ultra Optical System L1000/L2000 Optical Line System (OLS), designed to support next-generation AI networking, scalability for data center interconnect (DCI), and long-haul optical transport.

Scheduled for availability this fall, the open OLS platform is engineered to serve dual roles: providing core optical infrastructure for hyperscalers and cloud providers, while also enabling service providers  to deliver managed high-capacity optical services. The platform supports metro, DCI, and long-haul applications, addressing increasing bandwidth demands.

Optimized for 800G+

The L1000/L2000 platform is purpose-built with a Direct Attach (DA) architecture designed to enable high-capacity transmission and rapid scaling, while still lowering power and space usage.

Available in multiple shelf configurations with AC and DC power, the system is flexible to work in various operating environments. The platform supports 800G and beyond, with Multi-Rail transmission capabilities to ensure long-term space and power efficiency.

Multi-Vendor Interoperability and Open ROADM Support

Designed for open, multi-vendor environments, the L1000/L2000 OLS eliminates vendor lock-in through modular architecture and interoperable components. The platform scales from 1 to 16 degrees among continuous C+L bands.

An open Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) enables ROADM interoperability, allowing operators greater flexibility in selecting network elements and provides cost reduction. The modular building block design supports usage across data center interconnect, metro, and long-haul networks.

Automation and Advanced Diagnostics for Fiber Networks

The L1000/L2000 platform incorporates automation features to streamline commissioning and simplify ongoing management. Integrated tools support fiber connectivity verification, wavelength planning and deep diagnostics, helping operators proactively identify and resolve fiber-related issues.

1Finity Leadership Commentary and Showcases

“The Ultra Optical System L1000/L2000 OLS empowers CSPs, Hyperscalers, and Cloud providers to reliably deliver optimized, managed fiber services and core optical infrastructure from the same simple, compact design that fits anywhere,” said Hideki Matsui, SVP, Head of Photonics System Business Unit at 1Finity Inc. “Providing open, performance-optimized and reliable connectivity, this next-generation optical line system ensures a scalable foundation for evolving network demands, empowering growth for the AI era and beyond.”

The Ultra Optical System will be displayed at MWC Barcelona 2026 (March 2–5) and OFC Los Angeles 2026 (March 15–19).
