Befitting its expertise, McGough itself installed and operates the new passive optical LAN.

Tellabs has reportedly supplied elements of its passive optical LAN portfolio to McGough for the general contractor and construction management firm’s new headquarters in Saint Paul, MN.

McGough’s headquarters project saw the transformation of a 60-year-old trucking terminal into a modern working environment, as well as the addition of a new two-story wing.

The re-modeled space leverages an open floor plan with flexible workstations, huddle areas, and numerous windows, as well as break stations, extended ceilings, and conference rooms filled with natural light.

The selection of a passive optical LAN approach to the communications infrastructure best matched McGough’s need for a network strategy that would accommodate diverse architectural requirements, construction demands, and corporate goals, said Tellabs.

Befitting its expertise, McGough itself installed and operates the new passive optical LAN. Use of passive optical LAN provided flexibility, ease of use through automation, and a future-proof foundation for later communications options, including wireless, said the firm.

“It is very important to us to have the ability to easily change network technologies with the lowest possible costs and least disruption to our business,” commented Paul Boespflug, McGough’s CTO.

He added, "Wi-Fi is a great example of a rapidly evolving technology. By building this network with single-mode fiber, and Tellabs Optical LAN, we have put ourselves in the best position to support whatever the future brings."
