Non-contact voltage testers toggle easily between dual ranges

“The problem with many dual range voltage testers is that they do not clearly show the voltage detection range that is currently being used,” observes Sabrina Kalsi, product manager at Klein Tools.

Klein Tools has introduced two new non-contact voltage testers, both with dual range capability and a simple, intuitive user interface to make it easy to change between voltage detection ranges.

The company's Dual Range Non-Contact Voltage Tester 12 – 1000V AC (Cat. No NCVT-2P) and Dual Range Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Flashlight, 12 – 1000V AC (Cat. No. NCVT-3P) detect AC voltages from 12 to 1000V AC with audible and visual indicators. Two detection ranges of 70 to 1000V AC and 12 to 1000V AC are supported.

“The problem with many dual range voltage testers is that they do not clearly show the voltage detection range that is currently being used,” observes Sabrina Kalsi, product manager at Klein Tools. “With these two new models, we designed an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to switch between ranges with both audible and visual signals, as well as a rugged design."

With an auto-power off feature to conserve battery life, the tools' user interface makes it it easy to change between voltage detection ranges. A self-test mode at startup improves user safety. A flashlight on NCVT-3P model only works independently of the tool's NCV function. With a threaded battery cap, heavy-duty pocket clip, and recessed button design, the NCVT-3P is IP67 rated as dustproof and waterproof.

Klein Tools says the new testers are ideal for use with both low-voltage systems such as doorbells, irrigation systems, security, entertainment and environmental control systems, as well as for handling higher voltage requirements such as circuit breakers, switches, cords, cables, outlets and wires.
