STL says that it will supply elements of its Opticonn fiber-optic cable line to Australia-based network services provider Vocus Group Ltd. The Opticonn portfolio includes optical fiber and cable products, optical interconnect offerings, and pre-connectorized kits.
Vocus primarily serves customers in Australia and New Zealand while offering international connectivity via 4,600 km of submarine cable that connects Singapore, Indonesia, and Australia. The company also operates 2,100 km of submarine network between Port Hedland and Darwin as well as infrastructure to connect offshore oil and gas facilities in the Timor Sea.
On land, Vocus has backhaul fiber that connects most regional centers in Australia as well as a footprint in New Zealand. The group uses the terrestrial and submarine fiber networks to serve the needs of enterprise, government, wholesale, small business, and residential customers through a variety of brands.
"We are excited to partner with Vocus for the expansion of their fiber network that will connect millions across Australia,” commented Ankit Agarwal, CEO - Connectivity Solutions Business at STL. “Our end-to-end capabilities for global digital networks form a strategic fit with Vocus's long-term goals and we look forward to delivering innovative solutions that can help drive these outcomes."
