Dec. 28, 2022
To close out the year, the distributor announced a significant acquisition which expands its presence in the Chicago market, as well as a number of executive leadership changes set to take hold in 2023.

To close out the year, Graybar, among the top North American distributors of electrical, communications and data networking products and a provider of related supply chain management and logistics services, announced a significant acquisition which expands its presence in the Chicago market, as well as a number of executive leadership changes set to take hold in 2023.

Acquisition

On December 19, Graybar announced that it has completed its acquisition of CX Connexion. Based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, CX Connexion is an electrical distributor that serves construction, commercial, institutional and industrial customers, with specialized capabilities in lighting and equipment design, and a comprehensive solutions platform.

The company was founded in 2007 and operates two locations in the Chicago area. As a subsidiary of Graybar, the company will continue to operate under the CX Connexion name with the same leadership team, employees, and suppliers.

“We are excited to welcome the CX Connexion team to Graybar,” commented Kathleen M. Mazzarella, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Graybar. “With its positive reputation and extensive service capabilities, we believe the acquisition of CX Connexion provides a solid foundation for accelerating our growth in the Chicago market.”

“CX Connexion and Graybar have similar core values, a shared focus on innovation, and a commitment to the future of our industry,” added David Rosenstein, president and chief executive officer of CX Connexion. “Becoming part of Graybar allows us to preserve the strengths of our culture, while expanding our ability to serve customers, invest in growth and position our company for long-term success.”

Leadership changes

On December 20, Graybar announced several leadership changes designed to support the distributor’s long-term strategy for growth and transformation.

  • Tom Twitty has been named senior vice president - supply chain management, effective April 1, 2023. Twitty currently serves as district vice president in the company’s Richmond district. In his new role, he will lead Graybar’s strategies for delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting profitable growth through the company’s operational platform, service capabilities and logistics network.
  • David Bender has been named regional vice president, with responsibility for the company’s Minneapolis, St. Louis, Dallas, Seattle, Southwest and California districts. Bender currently serves as vice president - business performance and will move into his new role on January 1, 2023.
  • Brian Delaney has been named vice president - subsidiaries, with responsibility for Graybar’s U.S.-based subsidiaries, also effective January 1, 2023. Delaney currently serves as the distributor's vice president - marketing and strategic planning.

“Graybar continues to make strategic investments in acquisitions, technology and supply chain capabilities, all of which are designed to position the company for many more years of success," concluded Graybar's Mazzarella. "Tom, David and Brian are proven leaders who will translate these investments into positive results for the company and those we serve. We congratulate them and wish them success in their new roles.”
