The Ratcheting Power Cutter from GMP is a compact hand cable cutter offering both ease of use and sheer muscle power.

The Ratcheting Power Cutter from GMP (P/N 01818) is a compact hand cable cutter offering both ease of use and sheer muscle power. According to the manufacturer, the tool can easily accommodate 750 MCM copper power cable, 1000 MCM aluminum power cable or 300 pair 24 AWG communications cable without hesitation.

With a maximum capacity of 1.75 in. (44 mm) and weighing in at 2 lbs. 5 oz. (.96 kg), the lightweight cable cutter features a rubber boot to lodge its stationary handle against a work surface, and a strong ratchet to substantially multiply by-hand effort. GMP says the efficient mechanical advantage created by the cable cutter allows a cabling technician to make clean one-handed cuts using only a fraction of the effort required by non-ratcheting cutters.

With ergonomic molded grips, the Ratcheting Power Cutter's compact design allows for easy cable cutting within tight spots such as junction boxes or manholes. A release lever allows the ratchet to disengage and the blades to open even in mid-cut. For safe storage, a large knob on the tool's safety latch locks the handles closed, de-activating the blade. GMP warns that this tool should never be used to cut electrically live, steel or steel reinforced cable.
