Tugger makes stronger, faster cable pulls

The motor on Grenlee’s G3 Tugger was specifically designed to pull cable.

Greenlee says its new G3 Tugger Cable Puller has a 25-percent stronger continuous pull load than other light cable pullers, it pulls cable 20 percent faster than those other products, and sets up three times more quickly. Plus, the G3 Tugger is equipped with a motor that is specifically designed to pull cable, Greenlee explains. Its circuit breaker protects the motor against amperage draw from high loads.

“Our customers wanted a specialized motor that could perform faster and stronger pulls under continuous loads,” explained Sumeet Pujari, product manager for Greenlee’s bending and pulling tools. “They also didn’t want to waste time assembling loose pieces for those pulls.” The G3 Tugger “comes to the jobsite ready to pull cable,” he added.

According to the company, the puller’s quick-disconnect pins allow users to change tail length, pull direction or pull angle easily, which allows up to three times faster setup than other, similar pullers. The puller attaches to a truck hitch for outdoor pulls.

“The G3 Tugger pulls continuous loads up to 1,200 pounds and can pull up to 1,000 pounds at high speeds—25 percent stronger and 20 percent faster than the leading competitor,” Greenlee boasts. “The unit is also UL and cUL rated for pulls up to 2,000 pounds (intermittent). With no load, it pulls at 97 feet-per-minute (high speed) and 41 feet-per-minute (low speed).”

The puller’s right-angle sheave places operators out of the direct line of cable pulls, for safety, Greenlee concludes.
