At the FTTH Conference 2019 (March 12-14) in Amsterdam, Prysmian is showcasing its 6,912 fiber MassLink cable with FlexRibbon technology.

Energy and telecom cable systems industry giant Prysmian Group is showcasing its latest innovations for quality, future-proof fiber-optic networks at Europe's FTTH Conference 2019, taking place March 12-14 in Amsterdam. This year, Prysmian is presenting for the first time to the European market its 6,912 fiber MassLink Cable with FlexRibbon Technology product.

As debuted last week at the annual OFC Conference and Exhibition 2019 (OFC 2019) in San Diego, meeting the highest fiber count within the industry, "the 6,912 fiber FlexRibbon provides an ultra-compact outside plant cable design that contains 6,912 bend-insensitive fibers, with a cable diameter small enough to fit into a 50.8mm duct," per the company.

According to Prysmian, via the proprietary FlexRibbon technology, "ribbons are rolled up and packed together in small diameter sub-units, still providing the advantages of mass fusion splicing. Originally designed for use by hyperscale data center customers, the 6,912 fiber MassLink has potential uses in all telecom markets. With this amount of fiber in a single cable, this product design provides installers and splicers with craft friendliness and superior fiber management."

The addition of the 6,912 fiber cable further expands Prysmian’s portfolio of MassLink fiber Cable with FlexRibbon Technology, which includes also 1,728 and 3,456 fiber count FlexRibbon products, fitting into a 31.75mm and 38.1mm duct, respectively.

Prysmian Group is a Platinum Sponsor at this year’s FTTH Conference, and at its booth #P06 will also be displayed the company’s full offering for optical connectivity solutions providing flexibility in design, simple modularity for upgrading and superior quality performance for all cable management needs.

At the show, Prysmian will showcase its Karona Overblow System enabling the installation of high density optical fiber cable into pre-existing sub-ducted routes, containing already existing legacy cable, and its portfolio for multi conductor FTTA hybrid cables for mobile applications. Live cable jointing demonstrations will also be available throughout the exhibition.

Prysmian will also be in the spotlight at this year’s conference having its representatives participating at two sessions of the Conference: Philippe Vanhille will take part to the event's Keynote Session 1: “Policy – fiber for 5G: a story for convergence” on March 13, while Luca Cavenaghi will take part to the event's Voice Of Industry Session 9: “Network Transformation to Upgrade the Gigabit Society: delivering 10Gps and beyond”, discussing how to enable multiple services over a common network through flexible technology.

“Being partner of choice for main telecom operators, Prysmian supports its customers in the realisation of some of their most important projects where quality of products and innovative cabling solutions are fundamental to meet the increasingly demanding needs of modern broadband networks,“ says Philippe Vanhille, executive vice president, Telecom Business at Prysmian Group. “We therefore confirm our commitment to constantly investing in our optical fiber and cable capacities to support our customers in developing new reliable and cost-effective broadband networks.”
