With voting set to begin on Thursday, January 5, the stakes in the Cabling Icon online contest have been raised by $1,000. The Cabling Icon contest recently announced that Total Network Consulting signed on as a promotion partner of the contest, thereby raising the cash jackpot to $6,000. In addition to the $6,000 cash prize, the individual who is named the 2012 Cabling Icon will receive the Golden Punchdown Award, an embroidered Cabling Icon leather vest and, as the contest's organizers put it, "bragging rights and the worldwide recognition of being the Cabling Icon."
Jack Tavares, principal of Total Network Consulting, stated, "Cabling Icon gives recognition to installers and technicians for their hard work, so signing on as a promotional partner and supporting the contest was a no-brainer. With $6,000 on the line, there really is no excuse not to submit a video for the contest." The video-submission deadline was January 2, and voting begins January 5.
