Burndy has introduced its Patriot PATMD6-14V series crimping tools. The company claims the tools continue to utilize 14.4 volt Ni-MH batteries but are 50% faster than other brands using lithium-ion batteries, and are 80% faster than previous Burndy models. The PATMD6-14V tools complete a crimp on a 4/0 copper splice in approximately two seconds, says the company.

The PATMD6-14V series of tools incorporate engineering technology with a refined hydraulic system for superior performance, speed and reliability even in harsh work environments. Part of Burndy's Patriot In-Line offering, the tools can be used in virtually any position due to their 350º rotatable jaws and audible “pop-off” crimp indicator. The tool's ergonomically balanced, large-scale design eases operation, even when wearing gloves, notes the company.
