Active Clad Fusion Splice Kit
Fiber Instrument Sales (FIS) offers the FIS AC7 Active Clad Fusion Splicer kit, which it describes as “an affordable, performance-driven solution for all splicing needs.” The splicer’s onboard oven enables it to perform on all the FIS 900-micron Cheetah Splice-on-Connectors (SoCs), including ST and FC styles, without the need for any external tooling. The kit contains Cheetah as well as Armordillo brand SoCs.
The AC7 splicer includes the following features.
- Dual-camera, active cladding alignment system
- Interchangeable sheath clamps and fiber holders
- 4.3-inch touchscreen monitor
- Extended-life electrodes that conduct up to 6000 splices with tool-less changing
- 250 splices/shrinks per full battery charge
- Splash-resistant carrying case with built-in workstation
- Pass/fail post-splice reporting
- Enhanced onboard oven to allow melting of all FIS Cheetah 900-micron SoCs
