Wondering what happened to Cable Foreman magazine? Are you getting something else in the mail instead? If so, don`t worry. You`re getting a new and improved publication.

In January, PennWell announced that Cable Foreman, a monthly trade publication dedicated to the outside-plant communications industry, would be re-launched as osp Engineering & Construction.

Jay Regan, group publisher of osp Engineering & Construction and its sister publication, Cabling Installation & Maintenance, notes that along with a new name, the publication would become a tabloid-sized format, get enhanced editorial content and added benefits to subscribers and advertisers.

"Since the magazine`s inception, the name Cable Foreman has created some confusion in the marketplace. The title relates to a specific service provider in one area of the United States and refers to a job title that is not used on a widespread basis," he adds. "osp Engineering & Construction clearly identifies and defines the marketplace our publication serves."

Arlyn S. Powell Jr., group editorial director, says the transformation from Cable Foreman to osp Engineering & Construction will also offer several new features not included in the original publication. "We will be providing current, focused news coverage of the outside-plant industry as well as launching columns on standards and regulatory issues, career-development strategies, and on the outside-plant distribution channel," Powell adds. "In each case, we will be the only publication in the osp communications marketplace to offer this unique coverage on a regular basis."

Readers, however, also said they like a lot of what Cable Foreman was already doing. osp Engineering & Construction has retained Tony Minichiello`s `Foreman to Foreman` column as well as Susan Fogarty`s monthly product roundups.
