The cma40 FiberHawk fault locator from GN Nettest locates a break or fault in an optical-fiber cable in less than 60 seconds. With the press of a button, the device detects faults as far away as 110 kilometers, then reports the distance to the fault and references it to a known splice location in the fiber. The 8.75x9.5x3.45-inch unit weighs 6.5 pounds and features a 30/28-decibel dynamic range. 1310-, 1550-, and 1310/1550-nanometer models are available.
