The 37 series 8-pin modular plug has been accepted by the WideBand Gigabit Networking Alliance (wgna) for WideBand network installations. The manufacturer says the 37 series plug is the only such plug to gain approval from the wgna. The alliance, which is hosted by the International Academy of Science, manages the WideBand open standard and has been established to promote WideBand as a networking- industry standard.

The 37 series plug achieves -40-decibel near-end-crosstalk performance at 100 megahertz and achieves data-transfer rates from 532 megabits per second to 1 gigabit per second. The plug includes electropolished 50-microinch gold-plated contacts and requires no special techniques or tools for termination.
