The Wiremold Co.'s FiberReady fittings, designed for its SpecMate Center Spine Cable Tray system, are targeted for optical-fiber and Category 5 cable installations. The vertical pivot connectors attach to the rungs of the SpecMate tray, providing a 2-inch bend radius to protect high-performance cabling in horizontal and backbone projects. FiberReady meets bend-radius requirements of a broad range of optical, twisted-pair, and coaxial cabling. The entire SpecMate system is designed for flexibility for future expansion. Removable, replaceable, and interchangeable rungs as well as proprietary pivot connectors and modifiable fittings help designers maneuver around unforeseen obstructions and changes in elevation.

Modular cabling

Allsteel and AMP offer Netconnect modular cabling for panel-based offices. This zone-distribution cabling system services four to 12 workstations from a single consolidation point, within the panel or below the worksurface. Zone distribution makes it possible to move, add, or reconfigure workstations in a cluster, without threading cables back to the telecommunications closet (TC). Reconnection is essentially plug-and-play, which reduces downtime. The components incorporate only one connection point between the TC and workstation.

Sure Signal wiring and patch-cord tester gives cable installers and technicians an easy and economical way to check for a variety of potential fault conditions such as pin-to-pin wiring continuity, shorts, opens, and miswires. The system (main unit and remote) can be used for testing installed 4-pair data/voice cable links terminated with standard, modular RJ-45 jacks. Sure Signal can also check for faults such as shield/screen connection in installed twisted-pair, shielded twisted-pair, and screened twisted-pair network lines.

An installer or technician can connect a remote unit to one end of the cable and the main unit to the other end, then spot light-emitting-diode lights corresponding to errors in each wire. To test 4-pair patch cords, only the remote unit is needed. Additional remotes (sold separately) can be used to identify cables connected to up to eight wall outlets-each unit programmable to designate one of eight different cable connections.

The Steel City Recessed Poke-Through series features 100% metallic brass and aluminum covers that protect receptacles and jacks from impact and debris. The prewired flexible devices are available in three configurations: quad power with two telecommunications/data ports; duplex power with four ports; and for telecommunications/data only, with six ports. According to company claims, the quad configuration is the only poke-through on the market with 2-circuit (20-amp) capacity.
