Handheld test tools
The OneTouch Series II Network Assistant family of Web-enabled handheld test tools troubleshoots network connections and diagnoses problems in switched Fast Ethernet and TCP/IP environments. With an icon-based touch-sensitive screen, the tester facilitates troubleshooting of switched networks by discovering key devices past the gateway router. For each switch, the tester displays switch port interface type and status. The OneTouch Series II Pro unit adds full remote-control capability via a Web browser and enables technicians to map any device to the switch port it is attached to with a single touch. The "Pro" version also provides information necessary to speed configuration of workstations. OneTouch Series II Network Assistant supports OneTouch Reporter software, an optional utility that lets technicians document a network. Price of the OneTouch Series II Network Assistant family ranges from $2,695 for the 10-Mbit/sec version to $4,995 for the Series II 10/100 Pro.
The Nextframe cable-management system includes everything required to route, organize, and manage horizontal cable and jumpers in the crossconnect. The system includes ladder rack, center hung cable tray, vertical organizers (for between rack bays), horizontal organizers, and Velcro cable ties and accessories. The cable-management system components exceed Telcordia network equipment building systems requirements for transportation and handling. According to company claims, no matter how often changes are made, the system components will not wear or break.

The Walker AC10105 raised floorbox accommodates up to eight electrical receptacles and 18 telecommunications ports with room for 12-V power supplies for portable electronic equipment. The back of the box is completely open to accommodate the bend-radius requirements of high-performance cable. Measuring 10x10x5 inches, the box accepts modular Activate connectivity inserts, which customize each box for voice, data, and video, including fiber optics. It has a die-cast zinc flange and lid with a stamped steel bottom. Different cover options are available.
The SuperSplice CS-1500 provides an alternative to soldering for a wide range of applications, including wire-to-wire, wire-to-component, wire-to-PCB, or wire-to-subassemblies. Using a continuous reel of spliceband crimping material, the unit cuts, forms, and crimps the required amount of material into a precision splice around the wires, creating reliable solderless joints that comply with UL-486C pull-force specifications. With average cycle times of less than 500 msec and throughput as high as 800 to 1,000 splices per hour, the device can boost production output by as much as 500% over hand-soldering alternatives, according to company claims. The system can perform up to 75,000 crimps from a single reel of spliceband and also eliminates the noxious fumes and potential for temperature-induced damage that are associated with hot solder operations.
