The device was originally developed to meet the industry`s need for a reliable hand tool for in-field crimping of modular plugs. It features interchangeable dies that can be switched in a few seconds, without the need for other tools. Dies are available for conventional 4-, 6-, and 8-contact modular plug configurations, as well as for solid 22 or 24 AWG wire and DECconnect and 10-contact plugs. The device has ergonomic handles, a ratchet mechanism, and a built-in stripper for flat, modular cordage.
