Eicon Technology Corp., a manufacturer of remote-access solutions for personal computers, announced the launch of isdn Zone, a World Wide Web site that informs users about isdn (Integrated Services Digital Network) technology.

isdn delivers digital communication over standard telephone lines substantially faster than do analog connections--at a speed of 128 kilobits per second, according to Eicon. The Web site contains isdn information and statistics, demonstrates and compares isdn`s service to standard analog modems, and relates the benefits of upgrading to a faster Internet or remote-office connection.

"The Internet is a tool that customers can`t take full advantage of with a 28.8 [kbit/sec] modem," explains Victoria Salvador, isdn Web manager for Eicon. "It`s like traveling 35 miles per hour on the information superhighway. The high bandwidth of isdn allows users to cruise the Internet or communicate with their home offices much faster, providing high-speed digital access to match the full, interactive potential of the Internet."

An interactive question-and-answer session, hosted by Eicon`s vice pre-sident of technology Peter Geier, answers questions about the technology. "Eicon`s isdn Zone responds to a very real need in the market for practical, accessible information on isdn," says Geier. "With isdn installations in North America expected to increase more than fourfold by the year 2000 and widespread acceptance of isdn in Europe and Japan, more and more users will turn to sites such as the isdn Zone for remote-access solutions."
