PennWell Media Online (pmo--Delray Beach, FL) has launched LiveEvents!, an Internet broadcasting program that the company says enables vendors to create and deliver interactive, multimedia product and news releases directly to buyers` desktops. pmo claims that the program is the first of its kind.
An announcement at www.penn-well-live.com states that LiveEvents! is a one-on-one, business-to-business marketing program that targets the broadband communications marketplace and capitalizes on the Internet`s ability to deliver customized, personalized news and information.
"LiveEvents! is a paradigm shift for leaders in the broadband communications marketplace," says David Janoff, chief executive of PennWell Media Online and a vice president of its parent company, PennWell (Nashua, NH), which publishes Cabling Installation & Maintenance. "It creates an environment of immediacy. Users log on and are active participants in the dynamic broadband marketplace. Vendors have unlimited capacity to educate those tuning in."

Telect Inc. (Liberty Lake, WA), a manufacturer of communications products, will sponsor the first series of broadcasts. A spokesperson for pmo says Telect will use LiveEvents! to promote its connectivity systems and fiber products in a forum that "combines audio, video, text, and graphics to create a `virtual trade show` for new products and services."
According to the company, Live-Events! programming will include press conferences during which product managers and executives can detail features of new products and take real-time questions from prospective buyers. The programming will also include audio news releases and interviews with industry leaders.
