Media converters

The FlexPoint Media Converters provide 10Base-T Ethernet connectivity options across different media, including fiber, unshielded twisted-pair (utp), and coaxial cable. The full-duplex mode in the converters doubles the bandwidth available when connecting file servers to a switch and with connections between switches. The devices adapt to 10-megabit-per-second half-duplex or 20-Mbit/sec full-duplex Ethernet extensions when connecting between switches, hubs, servers, workstations, and personal computers. The units support multimode and singlemode fiber media options that extend network distances up to 15 kilometers. The utp crossover switch facilitates straight-through cable connection and eliminates the need for a crossed cable. To assist network installation and maintenance, the converters are equipped with light-emitting diode displays and diagnostics that report power availability, data traffic, and network status. They can be installed in a five-position media converter rack, a high-density 16-position chassis, or alone anywhere in the network.
