March 14, 2005 - He will be responsible for all TIA trade shows.

The Telecommunications Industry Association recently announced the promotion of Gene Sanders to vice president of sales and business development.

In his new position, Sanders will be responsible for all TIA trade shows, membership and publications sales. In addition, he will direct the TIA's business development activities including outreach to potential partners and new revenue-generating initiatives.

In his former role at the TIA as director of sales and exhibit marketing, Sanders was directly involved with SUPERCOMM, an annual exhibition and conference for communications service providers and private network managers. Sanders was responsible for initiating a successful team effort to grow SUPERCOMM in 2004, resulting in increases in number of exhibitors and attendees.

"Having all TIA sales staff report to Gene will permit cross selling and increased visibility of all TIA offerings and allow efficiencies to better serve our present constituency as well as new potential members and contacts," states TIA President Matthew Flanigan.

Prior to his position at the TIA, Sanders held various trade show and convention management positions, including four years at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), where he increased show size to 1,500 exhibitors and 1,000,000 square feet. In addition to NAB, Sanders served as vice president of sales and operations for the International Concrete and Aggregates Group, which co-manages CONEXPO-CON/AGG.

The TIA's portfolio of events that Sanders is responsible for includes:

* SUPERCOMM 2005, June 6-9, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL,
* ITU TELECOM AMERICAS 2005, USA Pavilion, Oct. 3-6, Salvador da Bahia, Brazil,
* IP-4-IT -- Advanced Applications for the Innovative Enterprise, Nov. 14-16, The Rio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV,
* GLOBALCOMM INDIA, February 2006, New Delhi, India,
* GLOBALCOMM 2006, June 5-8, 2006, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL,
