Fluke Networks announces that JackRapid punchdown tool now supports Systimax/Uniprise system

Fluke Networks has announced that the JackRapid punchdown tool now supports the Systimax/Uniprise cabling system.

The termination tool, which is now offered by Fluke Networks as part of its acquisition involving Harris Tools and Test Sets, is designed to let technicians install jacks up to eight times faster than before. Users can use it to terminate and trim all eight wires in a jack at once with one easy squeeze.

"JackRapid has proven immensely popular with cable installers since its introduction with support for Leviton jacks," says Karin Engstrom, VDV marketing manager, Fluke Networks. "Now with support for the SYSTIMAX and Uniprise jacks, we've proven that JackRapid is future-proof. We will continue to develop blade heads for the additional manufacturers' jacks and bring the JackRapid solution to more installers."

In an installation of 1000 jacks, a standard single-wire punchdown tool may require 29 labor hours at an average project cost of approximately $1,445. The same installation job utilizing JackRapid may require only 10 hours at an average project cost of approximately $500. Compared to the traditional single-wire punchdown tools, JackRapid can cut installation time by two thirds.

In addition to cost savings, the JackRapid is designed to ensure consistency of high-quality terminations. Once the jack is properly dressed, the tool helps technicians seat all eight wires with one easy squeeze. JackRapid has a built-in blade that cuts off the excess wire after it is seated in the connector, eliminating the need for a secondary trim step with a pair of snips.

JackRapid's patented design offers an easy-to-hold handle and an interchangeable, built-in bed that helps hold the jack in place. After the trigger is pulled completely, the wires will be seated and cut for a solid termination. Other benefits include its wall-friendly design to accommodate close-to-wall installations.

JackRapid is designed to increase accuracy and reliability. It is designed to offer safety, reducing the risk that technicians will punch into the palms of their hands or through drywall when terminating jacks. The tool also is designed to reduce hand fatigue, as one squeeze terminates all pairs instead of requiring eight individual punches.

The JackRapid with capability for Systimax MPS100E (Category 5e), C5 (Category 5), M1BH (Category 3) and Uniprise UNJ600 (Category 6), UNJ500 (Category 5e), UNJ300 (Category 3) is available for immediate delivery through Fluke Networks' sales channels worldwide and has a suggested U.S. list price of $72.
