In response to increased demand for integration of communication technology in the new-built environment, James C. Waddell has formed Formare Technica (www.formare-technica.com), an independent communications-technology consulting firm.
Formare Technica provides consultative design and project-management services, as they relate to communications technology, to stakeholders involved in the design and construction of newly built and renovated structures. "Formare Technica specializes in providing business tools and business-to-business consulting to any firm wishing to integrate D17/D25 into their current business," said a statement announcing the company's formation.
"D17/D25" refers to the impending division within the Construction Specifications Institute's (www.csinet.com) MasterFormat that will include specifications on communications infrastructure. For years, advocates in the communications-cabling industry proposed the specifications as "Division 17," because the MasterFormat currently includes 16 divisions. Recent decisions by CSI to expand the document indicate that the communications-infrastructure specifications likely will reside in Division 25 of the next version of the MasterFormat.
When asked about the firm, founder and president James C. Waddell said, "Now is truly the right time for communications-consulting firms to bring substantial value to the traditional players within the building industry. The demand for integration of communication technology as a system within a new structure has been growing at an exponential rate."
Waddell authored an e-book entitled "The Business of Divison 17," which was published to coincide with the formation of Formare Technica. The e-book is available via the firm's Web site. "This e-book answers for the reader why one should integrate D17/D25 into their everyday business model, then explores how one could integrate a D17/D25 business model," the company said.
