January 22, 2002--The connectivity-hardware maker sets its sites on getting its interface standardized for industrial cabling environments.
The Siemon Co. (www.siemon.com) has released a line of connectivity products intended for use in industrial environments. The IMAX industrial plug and outlet are Category 5e components that feature a protective housing design and a bayonet-style coupling nut.
The Siemon Co. is actively working within standards organizations to have IMAX accepted as the preferred interface for industrial environments. The company says that the Open DeviceNet Vendor Association (ODVA) already has done so. Siemon continues to work within the TIA and IEC for similar approval.
The IMAX plug and outlet are available in unshielded twisted-pair and screened twisted-pair versions, and both types can be terminated in the field for custom length configurations. Factory-terminated and tested cable assemblies also are available.
