Lexent Inc, a telecommunications solutions provider, has been awarded the electrical, security, cable TV and voice and data contract for five new dormitories on the SUNY Old Westbury campus in New York.
The SUNY Old Westbury project represents Lexent's latest contract awarded by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York
Working as a subcontractor for CAB Associates under the authority's direction, Lexent's installations at SUNY Old Westbury will provide students with state-of-the-art communications access. The voice and data lines will bring broadband connections to the dormitory rooms, while the electrical, cable TV and security work, when completed, will deliver support and safety systems.
"Our work with SUNY Old Westbury is part of Lexent's larger mission to cross sell our core capabilities to new markets and strategically expand our customer base to serve large enterprises such as universities, hospitals, and government entities, while broadening our services to enhance those offerings already available from telecommunications service providers," says Lexent CEO Kevin O'Kane.
Additionally, Lexent has been working on a project awarded through KINAJA, an affiliate of the Charles B. Wang Foundation, to install the electrical wires and voice and data raceways for the Charles B. Wang Asian American Center on the SUNY Stony Brook campus.
The company's work with education facilities also extends to the New York City public school system. As part of a larger contract with the New York Board of Education, Lexent recently equipped three metropolitan schools with Internet-ready capabilities and is working to install similar systems at six additional schools.
Lexent is a telecommunications and electrical infrastructure services company that designs, deploys and maintains optical fiber, electrical and life safety systems for telecommunications carriers and enterprise organizations.
