The Consortium for Electronics Systems Technician Training (EST--www.hightechjobs.com) recently announced that it selected Joe Jones of Tampa, FL as managing director of the four-year-old organization.
"Joe has been involved with the consortium since its inception in 1998," said Chuck Wilson, EST's president. "He has years of experience in curriculum development and training, and we are extremely pleased that he is now joining us as our first managing director."
Jones had ben education manager for BICSI, a telecommunications association, since 1995. While there, he conducted job-task analysis and created the three-level curriculum for BICSI's Telecommunications Cabling Installation Training and Registration Program.
"I'm excited about the opportunities at EST," Jones said. "The member associations have a wealth of knowledge that can be used to create high-tech training opportunities for the more than 630,000 workers in the industry."
Jones will be responsible for administrative management of consortium activities and the promotion of the consortium's Electronics Systems Technician curriculum to academic institutions. EST launched its first training program in March 2001.
Member organizations of EST include the Association Locksmiths of America, Automatic Fire Alarm Association, BICSI, Canadian Alarm Security Association, Consumer Electronics Association, Continental Automated Buildings Association, Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association, International Communications Industries Association, National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, National Systems Contractors Association, and Security Industry Association.
