Electrician-renewal Web site offers fiber-optic course

Jan. 3, 2002
December 31, 2001 A site designed to help electricians who need license-renewal help includes a four-hour course on fiber-optic technologies.

A new web site that provides licensed electricians with a method for renewing state licenses, also offers information on data-communications technologies, including fiber optics.

The site, www.ElectricRenewal.com, provides eleven correspondence courses that range from a two-hour safety course to a 16-hour course on the National Electrical Code. The fiber-optics course is four hours in length.

The site is sponsored by Iowa State University, and its resident expert is Paul Rosenberg, author of more than 20 books on electrical and voice/data wiring and former president of the Fiber Optic Association.

The site was established as a means by which licensed electricians can reach an immediate solution, as opposed to attending a seminar or community-college course, for renewing a state license. A release announcing the launch of ElectricRenewal.com said that today 25 states require continuing education of electricians for license renewal.
