IEEE conference slated for Taiwan

IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference 2002, titled GLOBECOM 2002, will be held this year in Taipei, Taiwan.

GLOBECOM 2002 is the flagship annual conference of IEEE Communications Society. The event will take place Nov. 17-21.

GLOBECOM 2002 General Chairman Chi-Kuo Mao says the theme for GLOBECOM 2002, "The World Converges," reflects the fact that the "global village" is taking shape. Mao says this is especially aided by information and communication technologies.

The conference will feature more than 79 technical sessions under 12 different symposia and 21 tutorials. It will cover wireless, optical, multimedia communications and networks. The conference will also feature workshops and business application sessions.

Mao says GLOBECOM 2002 is the perfect venue for participants to share technological expertise and human aspirations. He notes that Taiwan is the world's 14th largest exporter, focusing on electronic, information and communication products.
