July 24, 2002 -- Panduit solution monitors a network's physical layer.

PANDUIT Corp. has announced that the PANVIEW Real-Time Physical Layer Management Solution was named a Best of Interop show finalist for the Enterprise Network Infrastructure category at the recent Networld+Interop 2002 show in Las Vegas.

The PANVIEW solution features a combination of software, scanner, patch cord and patch panel technology that maps and monitors a network's physical layer, providing real-time information on the state of the connections in the network.

The system continuously scans patch cord connections, and documents their location in a centralized database, giving the network administrator the tools needed to manage the network infrastructure. It also features a module known as the PANMAP module that communicates with active network devices. When PANMAP is used in a typical switched network installation, the PANVIEW system automatically updates the real-time database with the identification and location of the devices.

The system also guides the technicians through patch cord moves, adds, and changes by means of innovative LEDs located above each port on the patch panels.
