OSHA officially recognizes ETL's Stockholm lab

Feb. 21, 2002
February 21, 2002--The recognition will be a benefit to product manufacturers in Europe, the testing company says.

In late January, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) expanded the scope of the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) status held by Intertek Testing Services to include an additional testing site in Stockholm. "This distinction is an official acknowledgement by OSHA that the Stockholm lab can perform independent testing per the product safety standards covered by the company's scope of recognition," Intertek said in a statement. Intertek is widely recognized, and does business, as ITS ETL Semko Labs(www.etlsemko.com).

ETL Semko now has a total of 13 NRTL sites. "Adding Stockholm to our already impressive list of recognized NRTL sites isn't just a distinction for ITS ETL Semko, it's tremendously beneficial to manufacturers," said Paul Moliski, director of accreditation for ITS ETL Semko. "European manufacturers will realize significant time and cost benefits with access to a NRTL in their own backyard."

The NRTL scope of recognition allows all recognized test sites to perform product-safety evaluations corresponding to their particular product-safety standards.
