TIA Publishes New Fiber Optic Standard

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) (www.tiaonline.org) has published a new standard, FOTP [Fiber Optic Test Procedure] - 111, "Procedure for the Measurement of Optical Fiber Curl," TIA/EIA-455-111. FOTP-111 describes a procedure for the measurement of radius of curvature, or curl, in uncoated optical fibers by determining the amount of deflection that occurs as an unsupported fiber end is rotated about the fiber's axis.
