September 18, 2003--Organized by Senators Hastert and Goodlatte, the group aims to speed telecom recovery.

The Telcommunications Industry Association (TIA--www.tiaonline.org) issued a release on September 17 applauding the launch of the House Republican High-Tech Working Group, which will focus on technology issues for the rest of the 108th Congress.

"We praise the efforts of the House leadership in reactivating the High-Tech Working Group," stated TIA president Matthew Flanigan. "This renewed commitment to advancing tech-friendly initiatives is welcome news to our sector and should encourage the continued rebound of the high-tech industry as a whole.

"TIA strongly supports the efforts of House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and Representative Bob Goodlatte for their leadership on policy issues the association believes are critical to the recovery of the telecommunications sector," Flanigan concluded. Hastert is a Republican from Illinois and Goodlatte is a Republican from Virginia.
