The National Association of Electrical Distributors has announced a $100,000 contribution by the L & R Anixter Foundation of Chicago, Ill. to the NAED Education & Research Foundation.
"This is an opportunity to give back to the industry in the memory of my uncle and aunt, Lester and Rosalie Anixter," says Steven Anixter, a director of the L & R Anixter Foundation and president and CEO of Advance Electrical Supply Co. in Chicago, Ill. "The electrical industry has been my family's business for three generations, since my grandfather founded Englewood Electric Supply in 1919, 84 years ago.
"The industry has provided us with many happy, satisfying times as well as a good living and many great relationships," Anixter continues. "We couldn't think of a better way to express our appreciation to the industry."
NAED is the trade association for the electrical distribution industry. Through networking, education, research, and advocacy, NAED helps electrical distributors prosper and improve the channel. NAED's membership includes distributors of all sizes, representing approximately 4,300 locations throughout the United States.
Named after Lester and Rosalie Anixter, the L & R Anixter Foundation is a family foundation dedicated to charitable giving. Lester Anixter was an executive with Englewood Electric Supply in Chicago, Ill. who dedicated his entire career to the electrical industry. The trustees of the foundation are Steven Anixter, Edward Anixter, JoAnn Anixter Silva, and Jack Ehrlich.
"We're really pleased and honored by the L & R Anixter Foundation's donation," says Bill Elliott, chairman of the NAED Education & Research Foundation. "The Anixter family has taken a leadership role by making the first donation of this magnitude to the NAED Foundation."
The L & R Anixter Foundation's donation will become part of an endowment fund for the NAED Education & Research Foundation. The principal amount of the endowment will remain untouched, while the interest will be used to commission future projects and studies.
As a $100,000 donor, the L & R Anixter Foundation will have a permanent position on the Channel Advantage Partnership Council, which will help select future educational
