May 21, 2003 - VIP Signal Level Meter is designed to make installer's jobs easier.

Tempo is adding the VIP Signal Level Meter to its Virtual Instrument Package line of cable plant test modules.

The VIP SLM is designed to combine testing and ease-of-use with the application power available from integration with computing platforms like the Panasonic Toughbook series of laptops. In addition to measuring signal levels, the VIP SLM is available with leakage and ingress measurement. It is the first in Tempo's Broadband VIP family that will soon include broadband TDR, DOCSIS cable modem testing, video signal port, and QAM analyzer modules.

The VIP SLM is designed to make the technicians' jobs easier while meeting the challenge of better field communication, workforce automation and digital record keeping. This integrated approach is designed to provide a cost effective business solution that improves productivity, quality of service and delivers diagnostic performance for technicians.

"Tempo's modular technology takes advantage of host computing power, display, file storage, and mobile communication capabilities," says Jim Smith, broadband product marketing manager. "The VIP SLM automatically learns new channel plans, and offers the easiest programming and usage on the market."

Tempo, based in Vista, CA, manufactures outside plant test equipment for the CATV, datacom and telecommunications industry. For more information visit www.tempo.Textron.com.
