Sumitomo's air-blown fiber system available through Power & Tel

Feb. 12, 2003--The distributor, which has carried Sumitomo products since 1994, now also offers FutureFLEX to the United States market.

Sumitomo Electric Lightwave (www.futureflex.com) announced that Power & Telephone Supply Co. (www.ptsupply.com), headquartered in Memphis, TN will immediately begin distributing Sumitomo's FutureFLEX Air-Blown Fiber System in the United States.

"Increased demand for FutureFLEX prompted Sumitomo's decision to expand its channels of distribution," the company said in an announcement. "Since 1994, Power & Telephone Supply has been a distributor for Sumitomo's conventional fiber-optic cable, fusion equipment, and interconnect products targeting the general communications marketplace. With the new agreement, Power & Tel will also service the needs of FutureFLEX's large network of value-added resellers and Sumitomo's growing FutureFLEX customer base."

Keith Quistorff, product marketing manager for FutureFLEX, said, "Power & Tel has given us outstanding service over the years-service that is reliable, consistent, and responsive to the needs of our customers. Therefore, when we needed to expand distribution for FutureFLEX, Power & Telephone Supply Co. was the natural choice. Power & Tel has been and continues to be an integral part of Sumitomo's success."

According to Bill Meadley, vice president of Power & Tel's Network Group, "FutureFLEX's ability to blow fiber on demand, scale and upgrade the network in a matter of minutes, and provide a low-cost solution for network moves, adds, and changes makes it the most technologically advanced infrastructure for the LAN on the market today. We look forward to representing yet another quality product and solution from Sumitomo."
